TAPE RESTORATION
WHY IS IT ESSENTIAL THAT TAPE IS RESTORED BEFORE IT IS TRANSFERRED?
Analog audio tapes have three components: Iron oxide, the binder and a plastic carrier. Over time, the glue that binds the oxide to the plastic absorbs moisture and starts to break down. The tape becomes sticky and will shed the oxide that holds your music onto the tape recorder's heads and moving parts, causing irreparable loss of fidelity.
Restoring tape involves baking it at a controlled temperature in a specialty oven and then letting it cool. We can then safely transfer it to Pro Tools using our Orion converters and the Studer 24 track analog tape recorder. Let Laughing Tiger Studios restore and transfer your analog tape safely so that your music will not be lost to the ravages of time.
Whether you're new to recording or have been at it for years, you'll feel comfortable at Laughing Tiger.
We are 20 minutes from San Francisco and Oakland in sunny San Rafael, just off highway 580 and 101.
